Product Description

VELO Orange Ice: Zesty Citrus With a Cold Edge

VELO Orange Ice is a slim, tobacco-free nicotine pouch that puts ripe orange under a light menthol frost, stocked here in one strength: 10mg, twenty pouches a can. Reviewers describe it as a bright burst of citrus with a crisp menthol twist, and the balance is the point. The ice is there to stop the orange going sweet, not to freeze you.

One thing to settle before you order. VELO's own UK shop no longer serves a product page for Orange Ice, though search engines still hold the old listing and UK retailers still carry stock. So this is available while it lasts rather than part of the brand's current official line-up. The pouch itself is unchanged.

We sell it as 10 cans for £34.99, which works out at £3.50 a can against the £6.50 a single VELO normally costs.

Two VELO Oranges, Two Different Technologies

VELO makes two orange pouches and they work in completely different ways, which is the single most useful thing this page can tell you.

Orange Ice uses menthol. Cooling, familiar, the same mechanism behind every ice pouch on the market. It lands as refreshment.

Orange Spark uses a sensate instead. VELO's own listing promises zesty ripe oranges followed by an intense tingling sensation, credited to what the brand calls VELO Sensates, and it defines that tingle as a heat and tingle feeling on the gum. That is a deliberately different experience from cold, and it climbs to 17mg where Orange Ice stops at 10mg.

So the choice is not really about flavour, since both are orange. It is about whether you want your citrus cold or buzzing, and whether 10mg is enough. People who order Orange Spark expecting Orange Ice tend to be surprised, and not always pleasantly.

The naming does not help. Ice and Spark both sound like intensity words, and neither tells you which sensation you are getting or how strong the pouch is. VELO's own product copy is clearer than its names: the Spark listing spells out the tingle and marks it with an asterisk, while the ice cans simply promise a cooling effect. If you are buying from a shelf rather than a product page, the reliable tell is the small frost symbol printed on the lid of the ice cans.

The Taste, Minute by Minute

Sharp orange arrives first and arrives fast, helped by VELO's moist pouch build. It is a zesty, peel-forward orange rather than a soft juice one, closer to marmalade citrus than to squash, which is what keeps it interesting past the opening minute.

The menthol comes in underneath and stays light. Reviewers repeatedly note that the ice here is measured rather than aggressive, balancing the sweetness rather than competing with it. Refreshingly clean is the phrase that keeps coming up, and it fits.

Flavour holds for around 35 to 40 minutes, which is at the better end for VELO, and the pouch stays comfortable throughout: slim, soft, low drip, rarely a burst.

The honest cons. Citrus is a demanding flavour to wear all day, and orange in particular can start to read as sweet after several pouches in a row, which is exactly the failure mode the menthol is there to delay rather than prevent. VELO also has a long-standing salty note in the drip on some cans, more noticeable when a pouch is left in past its useful life. And 10mg is the ceiling here, so heavy users will find it polite regardless of how sharp the flavour is.

There is also a practical quirk worth knowing about citrus pouches generally: coffee flattens them, and anything sweet eaten just beforehand pushes the orange from zesty towards sour. If a can tastes wrong on a particular afternoon, that is usually the reason.

10mg, Three Dots, and Nothing Else

Orange Ice is a single-strength can, which removes the usual decision but also removes the escape route if it does not suit you.

StrengthDotsVELO tierFormatConcentration
10mg3 dotsOriginalSlim, 20 per can, around 0.7g eachRoughly 14mg per gram

Three dots means 10mg here. It does not mean 10mg everywhere, which is the most common misreading of VELO's gauge: on Lime Flame the same three dots mean 8mg, because the marks track VELO's Original tier band rather than a fixed figure. Read the milligrams printed on the lid when you are comparing two cans you do not know.

For context on the ladder as a whole, one dot is 4mg and only appears on minis, two dots is 6mg, four is the 11mg rung, five is 14mg and six is 17mg, which is where VELO stops brand-wide. Orange Ice sits squarely in the middle. If you want citrus higher up, Orange Spark reaches 17mg, and the rest of the strong end is in our high strength pouch collection.

Delisted by VELO, Still on Shelves

The situation in plain terms: VELO's UK site returns a not-found for this flavour, search results still show the old listing, and UK retailers including the larger ones continue to sell it. Flavours leave an official range for ordinary commercial reasons and existing stock sells through afterwards. We have no inside knowledge about whether it comes back.

It is worth understanding why this keeps happening across the VELO range specifically. The brand runs an unusually wide catalogue for a pouch maker, and a wide catalogue gets pruned. Orange Ice and Watermelon Ice have both dropped off the official UK list while their close relatives, Orange Spark and Wintry Watermelon, remain. The pattern is not random: the cans that survive tend to be the ones with a taller strength ladder behind them, and a single-strength 10mg has less commercial room than a flavour that runs to 17mg.

The practical upshot for a buyer is straightforward. If you like Orange Ice, this is a reasonable moment to buy a run of it rather than a single can, and it is also worth trying its nearest surviving relatives now so you know where to go later rather than finding out under pressure.

Nothing about the manufacturing changes when a flavour leaves the official list. Same production lines, same 20-pouch slim spec, same plant-based filling, and the batch code on the base still tells you which of VELO's three European plants made it. Tobacco-free here means no tobacco leaf; the nicotine itself is pharmaceutical grade and derived from tobacco plants, which is a different thing from the synthetic nicotine used in some non-UK VELO ranges. The wider brand story is in our complete guide to VELO nicotine pouches.

Orange Ice Among the Cans We Actually Stock

Citrus and ice both turn up more than once in our VELO range, in combinations that are easy to mix up.

FlavourStrengths hereWhat it doesChoose it if
Orange Ice10mgZesty orange, light mentholYou want citrus with cooling at an everyday strength
Orange Spark10, 11, 14, 17mgSame fruit, tingling sensate, up to 17mgYou want the buzz and the strength
Minty Lemon10mgLemon with a proper mint layerYou want the mint to lead rather than follow
Tangy Lime6mgPure lime, no sensation, gentleYou want citrus with nothing added and less nicotine
Cherry Ice10mgCherry with a citrus edge and coolingYou like the ice format but want a darker fruit

Minty Lemon is the comparison most people should actually consider, because it is the citrus can VELO still lists and it sits at the same 10mg. The difference is emphasis: Minty Lemon puts real mint alongside the fruit, where Orange Ice keeps the menthol in a supporting role. Our ranked VELO flavour guide covers where each one lands, the full brand line-up is in the VELO pouch collection, and other brands doing citrus are in the citrus flavour collection.

Reasons to Pick a Different Can

Skip Orange Ice if you need more than 10mg, since there is no stronger version of this flavour and Orange Spark is the sensible destination instead. Skip it if you want a heavy freeze, because the menthol is deliberately restrained and a peppermint will do the job properly.

Skip it if you already know that citrus tires you out over a long day, which happens to more people than the marketing admits. And think carefully before ordering ten cans of a flavour VELO has taken off its own list, because a routine built on delisted stock eventually needs replacing.

Newcomers should treat 10mg with some respect too. It is manageable rather than gentle, and one pouch pulled out after fifteen minutes is a better first experiment than a full session. Our note on how many nicotine pouches a day is sensible covers pacing properly.

Wearing One, and What It Costs

Place one pouch under the upper lip, flat against the gum, and settle it with your tongue. No chewing and no sucking. Within five to ten minutes there is a mild tingle, which is the nicotine absorbing rather than any added sensate, and it fades. Thirty-five to forty minutes is a realistic session, and the spent pouch goes into the compartment built into the lid.

The maths: a single VELO can normally sells at £6.50. Our pack is 10 cans for £34.99, which is £3.50 a can and roughly 17p a pouch, dropping to £3.25 a can on two or more packs across any mix of brands we stock. Since VELO no longer hosts a page for this flavour, the nearest official reference is the Orange Spark listing on velo.com, which is the other orange. NicotineBuzz sells to over-18s only and verifies age at checkout.

Sweet orange and a cool icy finish
Nice combination of sweet orange and a cool icy finish. The citrus flavour is quite noticeable and makes a nice change from the berry and mint options.
