Product Description

VELO Orange Spark: the Citrus Pouch That Tingles on Purpose

VELO Orange Spark is a zesty orange pouch with a deliberate tingling sensation built into it, sold in slim tobacco-free cans with twenty pouches in each. VELO's own description runs in that order: first the flavour of zesty ripe oranges, then an intense tingling sensation. The word TINGLING is printed on the front of the can, which is not something the brand does for any of its mints.

It is also one of the few genuinely new arrivals in the 2024 range rather than an old flavour wearing a new name. Nearly everything else on this shelf was renamed that January and kept its recipe. Orange Spark turned up as a new idea, and it has been the quiet surprise of the range since.

What the Spark Actually Is

The tingle is the product. VELO adds a sensate to this flavour, which is an ingredient that acts on the nerve endings in your gum and lip rather than on your taste buds. Menthol is the sensate everyone knows, and it registers as cold. This one registers as a fizzing, prickling buzz instead, roughly what sherbet does to your tongue.

It arrives shortly after the pouch settles and fades within about five minutes, and it is unrelated to how much nicotine is in the can. VELO frames it as a signal that the pouch is working. Treat that as branding rather than physiology, though the timing does line up with the point at which the pouch has properly engaged with your gum.

Whether you enjoy it is entirely down to taste. Some people find it novel and slightly addictive in itself, others find any deliberate mouth sensation irritating and would rather the flavour arrived quietly. There is no way to know which camp you are in without trying it, and no other pouch on this shelf does the same thing, so there is no close substitute to test first.

What Orange Spark Tastes Like

Orange, straightforwardly. The aroma when you open the can is a simple, slightly sweet orange, and the flavour follows it faithfully: clearly citrus, moderately sweet, closer to orange squash than to peeling the fruit. An independent reviewer put it well when he said it is not super tart but does lean to the sweeter side, and scored it 3.67 out of 5.

What it is not is sharp. Given the name and the tingle you might expect something acidic and bracing, and it is not that at all. The spark supplies the drama and the orange stays sweet-natured underneath it, which is a slightly odd combination on paper and works better than it should in practice.

Flavour life is good for a fruit pouch, around 40 to 45 minutes, which puts it ahead of most of the fruit shelf and level with the peppermints. The pouches are moist and sit comfortably under the lip, and the drip stays low.

The honest reservations. If you dislike sweet fruit flavours, the tingle will not rescue this for you. If you want a citrus with real bite, this is too rounded and something tart will suit you better. And the sensate genuinely divides people, so if novelty mouthfeel is not your thing, buy one can before you buy ten.

Orange Spark Strengths: 10mg, 11mg, 14mg and 17mg

Four strengths here, which is more than VELO's own site lists for this flavour and worth explaining rather than glossing over.

StrengthDots on the canVELO tierRoughlyNotes
10mg3 dots ⦿⦿⦿Original14.3 mg/gThe standard choice, and on VELO's official UK listing
11mg4 dots ⦿⦿⦿⦿Original15.7 mg/gOften printed as 10.9mg. A separate rung from the 10mg
14mg5 dots ⦿⦿⦿⦿⦿Intense20 mg/gWidely distributed, though not on the official UK page
17mg6 dots ⦿⦿⦿⦿⦿⦿Intense24.3 mg/gThe ceiling, and on VELO's official UK listing

Two things to know about that table. VELO's official UK product page shows only the 10mg and the 17mg, while the 11mg and 14mg reach the market through wider distribution, so retailer listings for this flavour disagree with each other more than usual. All four are in stock here.

The 10mg and the 11mg are also genuinely different rungs rather than a rounding difference, which catches people out. Ten milligrams carries three dots and 11mg carries four, and the 11mg is the same legacy 10.9mg figure that VELO has used since the old X-Strong days. Our strength selector groups both as Original, so if the can in your hand shows four dots against an 11mg label, that is correct.

The milligram-per-gram column is calculated from the can: 20 slim pouches at 14g net gives 0.7g each. As a starting point, the 10mg is the sensible one, and worth noting that the nicotine here reads slightly above the middle of the market rather than gentle.

Why Orange Is Rare in Nicotine Pouches

Count the orange pouches on any UK shelf and you will not need both hands. Berry, mint, mango and watermelon are everywhere. Orange barely registers, and the reviewers who cover this category regularly note how unusual it is whenever one appears.

The likeliest reason is technical. Citrus oils are volatile and fade quickly, and the acidity that makes a fresh orange taste alive is difficult to carry in a pouch without turning harsh against the gum over forty minutes. Most attempts end up either faint or unpleasant. VELO's answer was to keep the orange sweet and rounded and let a sensate provide the excitement the acidity would otherwise have supplied.

That is why Orange Spark tastes the way it does, and why it has no obvious rival. If you want orange specifically, the list of alternatives is short: we also stock VELO Orange Ice, which takes the citrus in a cooling direction instead and sits outside VELO's current official UK list, so we carry it while stock lasts.

Orange Spark Against the Other VELO Fruits

The fruit shelf divides by what sits behind the fruit. Orange Spark is the only one where the answer is a tingle rather than cooling or nothing at all.

PouchStrengthsCharacter
VELO Orange Spark10mg, 11mg, 14mg, 17mgSweet zesty orange with a fizzing tingle. Nothing else like it
VELO Orange Ice10mgThe same citrus family taken cold instead. One strength
VELO Ruby Berry6mg, 10mg, 14mg, 17mgStrawberry-led red fruit, no cooling, no tingle
VELO Wintry Watermelon10mg, 14mg, 17mgSweet melon with a real peppermint layer over it
VELO Mango Flame10mg, 14mgThe other sensate flavour, warming rather than tingling

The closest thing to a sibling is Mango Flame, which uses the same idea in the opposite direction: a warming sensation instead of a fizzing one. If you like what the spark does here, that is the logical next can. If you want fruit with nothing happening underneath it, Ruby Berry is the plain option with the same strength range. Everything sits on the VELO collection page, and the fruit flavour shelf covers the other brands.

Tobacco-free means no tobacco leaf rather than laboratory-made nicotine. UK VELO uses pharmaceutical-grade nicotine extracted from the tobacco plant, carried on plant cellulose fill. The synthetic label belongs to a different VELO range sold in the United States.

How to Use VELO Orange Spark

Twist the lid rather than levering it. Fresh pouches sit in the body of the can, used ones go into the shallow ring beneath the lid until you find a bin.

Place one pouch flat under your upper lip against the gum. Orange arrives first, then the tingle builds over the next minute or so and settles down within about five. If it is your first Orange Spark, that sensation is the intended behaviour rather than a faulty pouch, which is worth knowing because it surprises people who have only used mints.

Forty to forty-five minutes is a realistic session. One pouch at a time, particularly at 14mg and above. Swallowing your saliva is fine, swallowing the pouch is not. If you are new to pouches, start below this flavour: our low strength collection is the better first stop, and our note on daily pouch use covers pacing.

What Ten Cans Cost

Single cans of VELO run around £6.50 on the high street, so ten comes to roughly £65. Our ten-can pack is £34.99, which works out at £3.50 a can, and all four strengths cost the same.

Given that the tingle is a genuinely acquired taste, this is one flavour where the sensible move is to be sure you like it before committing to ten cans of it. If you already know you do, the flat pricing across strengths makes a mixed pack straightforward. The rest of the range is on the VELO range page.

Who Should Buy It, and Who Should Skip It

Buy it if you want an orange pouch, because the field is thin and this is the best-supported one on the UK market. Buy it if you like the idea of a pouch that does something physical beyond cooling, or if you have worked through the mints and want a change that is not simply another berry.

Skip it if mouth sensations annoy you, since the tingle is unavoidable and is the entire premise. Skip it if you want a sharp, tart citrus, because this one is rounded and sweet and will read as flat if acidity is what you are after. And skip it if you are new to pouches: at 10mg minimum with a novel sensation attached, it is a lot to meet at once, and Crispy Peppermint at 6mg is the gentler introduction.

The official listing is on the VELO UK Orange Spark page, and our VELO flavour ranking puts it against the rest. Nicotine is addictive whatever it tastes like, and these pouches are for adults who already use it.

Updated July 2026. Strengths verified against the official VELO UK range and our own stock, and prices checked against UK retailers at the time of writing.
