Nordic Spirit Nicotine Pouches

Nordic Spirit Nicotine Pouches

Nordic Spirit is the UK's best-selling nicotine pouch: a small, white, 100% tobacco-free pouch that tucks under your top lip and releases nicotine steadily for up to an hour — no smoke, no vapour, nothing to charge. Owned by JTI and created in Sweden in 2018, the range runs from gentle 6mg Regular cans to the 17mg Max, across fourteen flavours led by Spearmint, Mint and 2026 newcomers Blueberry and Dark Fizz. Every can ships in the new 2026 packaging with the dot strength scale and DRY/MOIST marker printed on the front. 5-can multipacks are £19.99 (£4.00 a can), dropping as low as £3.00 a can on bigger orders. 18+ only.

Nordic Spirit Nicotine Pouches, Explained in a Minute

Nordic Spirit nicotine pouches are small, white, completely tobacco-free pouches that sit under your top lip and release nicotine steadily for anywhere between twenty minutes and an hour. No smoke, no vapour, no spitting, nothing to charge. The brand was created in Sweden in 2018, is owned by JTI (Japan Tobacco International), and has become the pouch you'll actually find behind the counter in Tesco and the corner shop, which is exactly how most people in the UK meet it. Plenty of people arrive here searching for Nordic Spirit snus or Nordic snus. Same tin, same under-the-lip habit, but there is no tobacco in it, and that single missing ingredient is why it's legal to sell in the UK while traditional snus isn't.

We stock every Nordic Spirit flavour and strength currently sold in the UK, all fourteen of them, from gentle 6mg fruits to the 17mg Max mints, in 5-can multipacks at £19.99 (£4.00 a can). Buy two or more packs and the price drops to £3.50 a can; keep going and it bottoms out at £3.00 a can. A single can in a shop is around £6.50, so the maths does its own persuading. Each can holds 20 pouches.

Nordic Spirit Strengths: the Dot System Explained

This is the thing the tin never quite explains. Nordic Spirit doesn't print a big "9MG" on the front; it prints a row of dots, and every newcomer ends up googling what the dots mean and how much nicotine they're actually getting. Here are the mg levels in one table:

Dots on the canStrength nameNicotine per pouchBest suited to
1 dotMini Regular3mgVery light or first-time users (Mini format only, a smaller, shorter pouch)
2 dotsRegular6mgCasual vapers, social smokers, anyone starting out — see our low-strength pouches
3 dotsStrong9mgThe everyday choice for most ex-smokers and regular vapers; the widest flavour range sits here (medium strength)
4 dotsX-Strong11mgHeavier smokers switching over, or 9mg users after a touch more (extra strong)
6 dotsMax17mgExperienced pouch users only. Genuinely strong, not a starting point

Two details worth knowing. First, the naming changed with the 2026 packaging: what old cans called Extra Strong is now printed as X-Strong. Same 11mg pouch, new label. Second, independent lab measurements consistently put the actual nicotine content a shade under the headline figure (a "9mg" pouch measures around 8.4mg per pouch), so don't worry about small discrepancies between retailers' listings. Everyone is describing the same pouches.

If you smoked around twenty a day, start at 9mg. Five-a-day, or a casual vaper? Start at 6mg. Most newcomers overshoot, and nicotine that lands too fast through the gum means hiccups, a swimmy head and a quiet ten minutes on the sofa. Going up a strength on your next order is easy; an afternoon stuck on a pouch that's too strong for you is not.

Dry or Moist? The Two Nordic Spirit Ranges

Every current Nordic Spirit can carries a DRY or MOIST marker, and it's the most useful word on the tin. It tells you how the pouch feels and how quickly it gets going:

RangeFeel in the lipReleaseFlavours in it
DryDrier, firmer pouchSlower, steadier nicotine; bold flavour that builds graduallyMint, Spearmint (JTI also makes a Dry Watermelon, which we don't currently stock)
MoistSofter, slimmer pouch with more moistureFaster flavour and quicker nicotine kick-in; more intense up frontSweet Mint, Frosty Mint, Frosty Berry, Forest Berries, Blueberry, Raspberry, Melon Fresh, Tropical Mix, Zesty Pear, Dark Fizz, both Max pouches

The original Nordic Spirit character — the slow, even release long-term users swear by — lives in the Dry range. The Moist range (which won Product of the Year 2026) is JTI's newer recipe: softer pouch, punchier start, and noticeably saltier to some palates. If you tried a Frosty flavour and found it intense, that's the Moist recipe doing its thing, not a bad can. If you want the gentler old-school feel, stay with Mint or Spearmint.

New Look in 2026: Same Pouches, New Cans

In March 2026 JTI gave the whole range a redesign, the "North Star" look. If your last can looked different from the ones on this page, nothing has been discontinued and nothing in the recipe changed. What's new:

  • A star-motif logo and brighter can colours (the Max tier goes darker, so the strong stuff looks like the strong stuff)
  • The dot strength scale printed clearly on every can — the table above, on the tin
  • A DRY or MOIST marker on the front
  • Extra Strong renamed X-Strong
  • The Moist range moved to a slimmer can with a redesigned, softer pouch

Shops are still selling through older stock, so for a while you'll see both designs on shelves. The pouches inside are identical. Every product photo on this page shows the current 2026 packaging, which is what we ship.

Every Nordic Spirit Flavour We Stock, Honestly Reviewed

All fourteen, described the way regulars actually describe them. Nordic Spirit flavours run subtle rather than sweet-shop. If you want a flavour that shouts, this isn't the brand for you — and long-term users consider that the point, because a flavour you merely like at minute one is a flavour you still like at minute forty.

FlavourRangeStrengthsTastes like
SpearmintDry6, 9, 11mgThe crowd favourite. Rounded, lightly sweet mint; the one long-term users buy on repeat
MintDry6, 9, 11mgCooler and sharper than Spearmint; peppermint with a whisper of liquorice underneath
Sweet MintMoist6, 9, 11mgThe softest mint. Sweeter, mellower, popular with people who find Mint too icy
Frosty MintMoist9, 11mgThe coldest of the four mints. Fast, icy, intense; divides opinion and means to
Frosty BerryMoist9, 11mgDark berries with the same icy edge as Frosty Mint
Forest BerriesMoist6, 9mgBlackcurrant-led wild berries; the most "British hedgerow" of the fruits
BlueberryMoist6, 9mgNew for 2026 and already one of the best sellers. Tart-sweet, not sugary
RaspberryMoist6, 9mgTangy and well balanced; the safest fruit pick for a first order
Melon FreshMoist6, 9mgRipe melon, gentle and summery; the quietest flavour in the range
Tropical MixMoist6, 9mgPineapple and mango; the holiday one
Zesty PearMoist6, 9mgNew for 2026. Pear with a lime twist; more interesting than it sounds
Dark FizzMoist6, 9mgNew for 2026. A proper cola pouch, sweet-tangy, unlike anything else JTI makes
Frosty Mint MaxMoist17mgThe strongest Nordic Spirit ever sold in the UK. Icy mint, serious nicotine
Frosty Berry MaxMoist17mgThe 17mg berry option; same warning applies

If you're torn: Spearmint for the working week, one of the 2026 fruits (Blueberry or Zesty Pear) for the weekend, and leave the Max cans alone until 11mg feels routine. Two range members we don't stock yet: Watermelon (Dry) and Icy Peppermint, JTI's 2026 addition — check back for those. Browse the wider category by taste on our mint and fruit collections, or see the top 10 pouch flavours of 2026. For the long version of this table, warts included, read our Nordic Spirit review of every 2026 flavour.

The Flavours JTI Discontinued (and What to Buy Instead)

If you're here looking for Elderflower, Mocha or Bergamot Wildberry, the bad news is JTI discontinued all three, and any retailer still advertising them is selling copy, not stock. The nearest current matches: Elderflower fans tend to land on Melon Fresh or Zesty Pear (gentle, floral-adjacent fruits); Bergamot Wildberry loyalists usually settle on Forest Berries; Mocha, sadly, has no true replacement in the range, so other brands' coffee pouches are the way to go.

Nordic Spirit Prices: What a Can Costs in 2026

Where you buyPrice per can
Supermarket or corner shop (RRP)~£6.50
NicotineBuzz — one 5-can multipack (£19.99)£4.00
NicotineBuzz — two packs£3.50
NicotineBuzz — three packs£3.33
NicotineBuzz — four packs or more£3.00

The multibuy is mix and match across our whole range, not just within Nordic Spirit. A pack of VELO and a pack of Nordic Spirit in the same basket still counts as two packs. A moderate user gets two to three days from a can, so one multipack is roughly a fortnight of pouches for less than the price of three shop-bought cans — and at the four-pack rate you're paying less than half what the garage charges. Nordic Spirit vs VELO vs ZYN

The three brands you'll actually be choosing between in the UK. Short version: Nordic Spirit is the gentle, steady one.

Users who move from VELO to Nordic Spirit usually say the same two things: the flavour is better and the sting is gone. Users who move the other way say Nordic Spirit was too polite. Both are right — it's a personality choice, and we wrote it up properly in VELO vs Nordic Spirit.

How to Use a Nordic Spirit Pouch

Four steps, no ceremony:

  • Open the can — twist the lid to break the freshness seal. The lid has a built-in compartment for used pouches, which is handier than it sounds.
  • Place the pouch under your top lip, slightly off to one side. No chewing, no sucking, no spitting.
  • Leave it alone. Expect a tingle for the first ten to fifteen minutes — that's the nicotine releasing, not a fault. Flavour and effect carry on for 20 to 60 minutes; flip the pouch once midway if you want the flavour more even.
  • Bin it — used pouches go in general waste (or the lid compartment until you find a bin). The polypropylene can is kerbside-recyclable in most UK councils.

Store cans somewhere cool and dry, not the car dashboard, and the pouches keep their moisture and punch (there's a best-before date on the base of the can — they don't spoil, but the flavour fades past it). First time using pouches at all? Start with our beginner's guide to Nordic Spirit, and if you're wondering what a sensible daily count looks like, we've answered how many pouches per day properly — most regular users land somewhere between three and ten a day, whatever the internet's wilder estimates say.

The Honest Bit: Side Effects and Getting It Right

Nicotine is addictive in every format, and a pouch that's too strong for you is properly unpleasant: hiccups, light-headedness, a queasy half hour. That isn't a faulty batch — it's too much nicotine arriving too fast, and the fix is a lower strength, not a different flavour. A little gum tingle where the pouch sits is normal, especially in week one; persistent soreness means move the pouch to a different spot and consider dropping down a strength. Only a fraction of the nicotine printed on the label is actually absorbed (independent estimates put it at 10–20%), which is why a 9mg pouch doesn't feel like nine cigarettes' worth.

Two groups shouldn't be here at all: anyone under 18, and anyone who doesn't already use nicotine. Pouches are a switch, not a hobby. And if your actual goal is quitting nicotine entirely, your pharmacist or the free NHS stop-smoking service will get you there faster than anything sold in a round tin — Nordic Spirit is not a licensed quit-smoking product and we won't pretend otherwise.

Who Actually Makes Nordic Spirit?

OwnerJTI — Japan Tobacco International
Born2018, at Vårgårda Kvarn, a converted 15th-century mill near Gothenburg, Sweden
Made todayPoland (JTI's European pouch production site)
FormatSlim all-white pouches, 20 per can; Mini format exists in Spearmint
ContentsPlant fibre, pharmaceutical-grade nicotine, food-grade flavourings, stabilisers — no tobacco leaf, vegan-friendly
StandingThe UK's best-selling nicotine pouch brand; Moist range voted Product of the Year 2026

The Swedish origin matters because that's where the format comes from: pouches descend from snus, Sweden's under-lip tobacco tradition, minus the tobacco — which is why so many people still call these Nordic snus. If the history interests you, we've written up what snus actually is and why real snus is banned in the UK while pouches aren't.

Buying Nordic Spirit Online in the UK

Every order is age-verified (18+, no exceptions), picked from current 2026-packaging stock and shipped across the UK. If Nordic Spirit turns out not to be your brand, the same multipack pricing applies across VELO, ZYN, Pablo and the rest of our nicotine pouch range — and because the multibuy is mix and match, trying two brands costs the same as committing to one.
