Killa - Cold X Mint Extra Strong | 10 Cans

By :
Killa

Killa Cold X Mint is the coldest can in the Killa range. The X stands for the extra cooling rather than extra nicotine, so it holds the same 13.2mg per pouch as every other Killa while going considerably further on the freeze. 20 slim pouches to a 16g can, and no tobacco in it.

Product Description

What Does the X in Killa Cold X Mint Mean?

It refers to the cooling, not the nicotine. Killa Cold X Mint is the extreme-cooling version of the brand's mint, using a heavier load of cooling agents to push the freeze well past what the standard cans manage, while carrying exactly the same 13.2mg of nicotine per pouch as everything else Killa makes. The X is about how cold it feels, and nothing else.

That is worth stating plainly because no retailer page says it. The largest listings for this can run to well over a thousand words without once explaining the naming, which leaves people assuming X means a strength above Extra Strong. It does not.

How Much Colder Is It Than Killa Cold Mint?

Noticeably, and the gap is the entire reason the can exists. Cold Mint gives you a sharp menthol bite that builds over a minute and then plateaus. Cold X Mint arrives faster and keeps climbing, with an ice-cold sensation that fills the whole mouth rather than sitting where the pouch is.

If Cold Mint has stopped feeling cold to you, this is the answer. If Cold Mint already feels like plenty, this one will be uncomfortable rather than impressive.

What Does It Taste Like Underneath the Cold?

There is a clean mint backbone in there, but the cooling is loud enough that flavour is genuinely the secondary event. People who rate their pouches by how cold they feel love this can; people who want to taste mint tend to find the freeze gets in the way.

Some reviewers also pick out an earthy, slightly savoury note underneath the mint, and describe the can as the closest thing in the Killa range to the flavour of traditional snus. It is not on every account and it is subtle, but it comes up often enough to be worth mentioning, and it is probably why this can has a following among people who used to use tobacco snus.

Is There Any Tobacco In It?

No. Killa Cold X Mint contains no tobacco leaf, stem or dust, the same as every other pouch on this site. It is plant fibre, nicotine, flavouring and stabilisers.

The reason this needs saying is that the earthy note described above leads some reviews to call it a tobacco flavour, and at least one review is titled around exactly that idea. That is a description of taste, not of contents. If you want the background on why these are not snus at all, our explainer on what snus actually is covers the distinction.

Where Does It Sit Among the Seven Killa Mints?

At the top, for cooling. Killa sells seven mint cans and this is the coldest of them, with Cold Mint below it and Spearmint at the gentle end.

The full seven-way comparison, ranked by cold and by sweetness, sits on the Double Mint page rather than being repeated here. Worth knowing that Double Mint is the one with the most actual mint flavour, which makes it the opposite choice to this can: maximum taste rather than maximum cold. The rest of the range is in Killa Original and Killa Exclusive.

How Strong Is It, and What Is the 16.5mg?

The dropdown above reads 16.5mg, which is a concentration per gram of filling rather than a dose. Pouches weigh 0.8g, so the actual figure is 13.2mg of nicotine per pouch.

Per gram16.5mg/gConcentration, as printed on the can
Per pouch13.2mgThe dose in one portion

Several listings show this can at 12.8mg per pouch, an older rounding of the same product. Nothing about the X adds nicotine: it is the same dose as Cool Mint, the mildest of the Original mints. The Killa hub sets the numbers out across the range.

How Should You Run the Session?

Eat first, and start shorter than you would with any other can. Ten minutes is enough for a first attempt with this one, because heavy cooling is the thing most likely to make a pouch genuinely unpleasant rather than merely strong.

Place it flat and do not move it. Shifting the pouch spreads the cooling agents around the mouth, which with this can is the difference between bracing and painful. If your lip is sore afterwards, swap sides next time and give it a day. Our guide to how many pouches a day is sensible covers pacing properly.

Who Should Skip It?

Anyone new to nicotine pouches. This is the harshest introduction the brand offers and it will put you off the entire category.

Anyone who wants to taste mint. The cold dominates, and Double Mint is the better can for flavour.

Anyone prone to lip irritation. Heavy cooling agents are the usual culprit and this can has the most of them.

Anyone expecting more nicotine because of the X. There is none. It is the same 13.2mg.

Is There Anything Colder?

Not within Killa. This is the top of the range for cooling, and the only route further is a different brand at a much higher dose, which changes two variables at once. Pablo Ice Cold is the obvious comparison, made by the same company in the same Danish factory, and it pairs arctic menthol with roughly double the nicotine. Our Pablo strength guide covers where that lands.

Worth being clear that going to Pablo for more cold means accepting a lot more nicotine at the same time. If cold is all you want, this can is already the answer.

Fakes, Storage and the Practical Bits

Check that the lid print is crisp rather than soft at the edges, that the batch code is stamped into the can rather than stickered on, and that the catch lid closes flush. NGP publishes its own listings at killapods.eu for comparison.

Keep the can shut and out of sunlight. Cooling agents are volatile and this can loses its defining quality faster than a fruit pouch loses flavour, so a stale Cold X Mint is just an ordinary mint with a strong dose. The fridge helps if you work through cans slowly. Cans are sold in packs of ten, which is 200 pouches, and the per-can price steps down as you add packs: £3.50 a can at two packs, £3.33 at three and £2.99 at four. The single-pack rate is on the listing above.

The Verdict

A specialist can with one job, done thoroughly. If you measure a pouch by how cold it makes your mouth, nothing else in the Killa range comes close, and the earthy note underneath gives it a character the other mints lack. It is genuinely the sequel to Cold Mint rather than a rebadge.

The limits are obvious and worth respecting. The cold buries the flavour, it is the most likely can in the range to irritate your lip, and the X buys you nothing in nicotine terms. Buy it because Cold Mint has stopped registering, not because you expect it to hit harder.

Very crisp and cooling mint flavour. The icy sensation is much stronger than regular mint, which makes it stand out. Really refreshing overall.
